Terms of Service

What KaraokeRank is

KaraokeRank is a public leaderboard of karaoke performances, operated by Nihey Takizawa at karaokerank.lol. Anyone may browse it without an account. An account is required only to add songs, publish performances, or vote.

The service is in active development and is offered as-is. Features are incomplete, data may be reset, and the service may be discontinued. Do not rely on it to store anything you cannot afford to lose.

Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 16 years old. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping access to your email secure, since sign-in is by email link or Google account rather than a password. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else.

One person, one account. Do not create accounts to manipulate rankings or votes.

Songs and performances you submit

KaraokeRank lets users add songs, which the service processes into an instrumental backing track, and record performances over them.

You are responsible for what you submit. By adding a song or publishing a performance you represent that you own the necessary rights, or that your use is otherwise permitted by law in your jurisdiction. Do not submit material you have no right to submit.

You keep ownership of your performances. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, process, and publicly display them for the purpose of operating and promoting the service. This licence ends when you delete the performance, except for copies already cached or retained in backups for a limited period.

Performances you publish are public. Anyone may view them without an account. Consider that before you publish.

Copyright and takedown

We respect copyright and expect users to do the same. If you own rights in material on KaraokeRank and believe it is being used without authorisation, email contact@karaokerank.lol with:

• identification of the work you claim is infringed;
• the URL of the material on KaraokeRank;
• your contact details;
• a statement that you believe in good faith the use is unauthorised, and that the information in your notice is accurate;
• your signature, electronic or physical, as the rights holder or their agent.

We act on valid notices promptly, generally by removing the material and notifying the user who submitted it. We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. If you believe material was removed in error you may reply to the same address explaining why, and we will consider restoring it.

We may also remove any song or performance at our discretion, without a notice, where we consider it necessary.

What you may not do

• Submit material you have no right to submit.
• Manipulate scores or votes, including by using multiple accounts, automation, or coordinated voting.
• Upload anything unlawful, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or depicting a person without their consent.
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent who performed a recording.
• Attempt to breach, overload, or probe the service, or access accounts that are not yours.
• Scrape the service at a scale that degrades it for others.

Scores and rankings

Scores are produced automatically and are an approximation, not a judgement of musical merit. Ranking combines your score with votes from other users. We may change the scoring model or the ranking formula at any time, which may move existing performances up or down the board. We may discard votes we believe to be manipulated.

Availability and warranties

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any data will be preserved.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Consumer rights that apply to you by law are unaffected.

Suspension and termination

You may delete your account at any time by emailing contact@karaokerank.lol. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, or where required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — ownership, licences already granted, liability, and governing law — do so.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil, and disputes are subject to the courts of the operator’s domicile, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections available to you where you live.

Changes

We may update these terms as the service develops, and will change the date at the top. For material changes we will notify signed-in users by email. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
